IMF to extend its rescue fund
MF will extend its rescue fund by $500 Billion.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) plans to raise, up to an additional sum of $500 billion,
to its rescue fund in order to help countries which are facing financial difficulties standing
an expected costs of one trillion dollars in the coming years.
The fund spokesman added : “At this early stage, we are examining financing options and we will
not address this subject until the necessary consultations with Member States of the fund is completed.
Euro countries have committed to fund 150 billion euros ($192 billion), but the U.S. has already announced
that it does not intend to increase the amount it transfers IMF, and the leaders of The 20 leading economies (G20) opinions differ on the issue.
The IMF wants to reach an agreement regarding the rescue fund expansion on the Finance Ministers’ and banks of the G20 leading economies meeting which will be held on the 25-26 February in Mexico City.
